CBR Family: Rotary Counter-Pressure Systems

The CBR family is a line of rotary counter-pressure canning systems that build upon the capabilities of the CB50C counter-pressure filler by bringing Pneumatic Scale's rotary counter-pressure filling together with rotary Angelus seaming in a compact footprint, operating at up to 150 cans per minute (CPM).

Like the CB50C, the CBR family allows you to easily can beer, cider, seltzer, carbonated soft drinks (CSD) and more, at carbonation levels of up to 4.1 vols / 8.0 g/l CO2. Currently available as a 12/3 (12-head filler, 3-spindle seamer) or 16/4 (16-head filler, 4-spindle seamer) configuration, the CBR system enables faster speeds and continuous motion for a smooth transition from filling to seaming, eliminating unnecessary agitation and reducing Dissolved Oxygen (DO) levels.

Cans are purged of oxygen prior to filling, with configurable purge and snift times to control foaming. Under Cover Gassing (UCG) at the turret lid feed and a bubble breaker positioned ahead of the Angelus seamer serve to keep DO levels to an industry-leading minimum.  Achieving the proper Foam on Beer (FOB) is no longer required to maintain low DO thanks to true UCG, thus widening the operating range of the filler and reducing adjustments needed when changing from one product to another.

The CBR family builds upon the success of previous counter-pressure models with the added advantages of a full rotary system. The combination of a rotary filling turret with rotary seaming means you can increase the number of cans traveling through the system, maintaining best-in-class Angelus seam integrity without creating any increase in product agitation. Ultimately, this allows you to eliminate the unwanted reductions in carbonation levels seen with other filling methods.

Like our other counter-pressure models, the CBR family employs true isobarometric filling, with a gravity-fed on-board product filler bowl (rated to 60 psi / 4 bar). Precision magnetic flowmeters ensure filling accuracy, with little to no waste.

The CBR full rotary design allows for a smaller footprint than other rotary formats and some linear systems. The addition of the rotary seamer allows you to achieve faster speeds in a more compact design, which is great for brewers and others who want to increase production without requiring additional space, often already at a premium.

The CBR system includes quick-change can handling parts and recipe-driven automatic motorized turret height adjustment to accommodate multiple can sizes, as well as an automated clean-in-place (CIP) routine with customizable settings for easy cleaning between product changes. An intuitive HMI for individual fill head volume adjustments simplifies operation.
